A new do for the New Year!

I finally made myself go to the salon today after 10 months, and man did my hair need it. It was the first time I ever used this lady Kathy and now I will never go to anyone else. Now if only this new haircut will bring me good fortune in the New Year!!!

Fisherman's Christmas

I finally got our Christmas tree up! This is our first Christmas tree in our new house and man does it look good. It didn't come looking this pretty, but my time and patience paid off. It all started when Jeff and I went to Lowe's to pick up our tree and there wasn't a single one left in the place. After a few tears I finally faced the fact that we were not going to find one. On our way home we stopped by Walmart to pick up a few things and to my surprise I saw a couple of trees out front. They were all bound up laying against a fence so it was hard to pick a good one. I just grabbed the tallest one and hoped I wasn't getting a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. When we got home I put it in our stand, crossed my fingers, and cut the strings. Whew, I was lucky! There were a few bald spots but I actually picked a pretty decent tree. Today I started to decorate it but had to make a trip back to Walmart when I found out I had picked out crappy lights. Finally when I got home I was able to put the finishing touches on the tree including my cute fishing lures. A buddy of ours use to live with a guy who sold liquor and when he moved out he had left these lures that go on top of bottles. I saw them and knew right away a great way to use them. So, this is our Fisherman's Christmas tree.

My first pig

I know what your probably thinking, "Again!". That's what my mother thought when I told her that Jeff and I went hunting in the Delta again. We went yesterday in hopes of me killing my first pig. When we were on our way I realized I had forgot my good camera. That's when Jeff said, "You are defiantly going to kill a pig today. It's the only day you didn't bring it." Well, he was right. The first creek we went down we came across a couple of pigs. Being that I was the only one who had never killed one it was my turn. Now let me remind you this is not an easy task. Your on a small aluminum boat with two men whose every move rocks the boat making it an even harder shot. Not to mention my boyfriend who gets so excited and worried that the wind is going to shift where they can smell us and says, "I have them in my scope, I can take the shot.". That added on to the nerves because I wanted to get a shot in. I looked through my scope and saw the white fur and shot, which was followed by another shot from Jeff's gun. Not feeling to confidant about my shot Jeff and Ed got out to look for it. They didn't find a blood trail or the pig. It was the pig's lucky day. So, we headed off to another creek in hopes of getting on them again. We had only been in the second creek 5 minutes when I heard pigs grunting and rooting. Again, I stood up on the front of the boat with my gun pointing at the moving grass. A long minute later I spotted brown fur in my cross hairs. Not wanting to miss this one, I took my time until I had a perfect shot right behind the shoulder. POW, I hit it!!! It took off only a few yards and was easy for us to recover. I know some of y'all are thinking that I am some crazy, mean hunter, but I can promise you I am not. We eat everything that we shot and nothing goes to waste. Jeff's mom even dehydrates the fat and makes jerky treats for the dogs. There is nothing mean about what we do. Now if you will excuse me, I have some BBQ to cook.

Hunting in the Delta

Jeff and I have been getting to do something that we really enjoy this time of year. We ride in our little skiff up to the delta to do some wild pig hunting. The delta is just north of downtown Mobile. It is so beautiful up there and hard to believe your right by the city. We were able to go on Tuesday and were on some pigs less than five minutes after getting up there. You have to be really quite and listen hard. Right now there is still a lot of foliage so it can be hard to get a good view of them. The first ones we came up on never came out in to a clearing so we kept on. We rode down another creek and not long after we came across more. Jeff pulled the boat up to the bank and got out. After a few very quite minutes he shot one. It was the perfect size (115 lbs gutted). I know this might be hard for some people to read, but Jeff and I do not let the pig go to waste. I took some pictures up there so hopefully you can get the idea of what its like. Believe me, if anyone went up there they would love it too. I know I do.

Flounder

The other night Jeff and I went to our friend Tyson's house to do some fishing. Well, on my very first cast I reeled in a great flounder. It weighed about 4 1/2 lbs. Jeff and I cooked it two nights later and it was delicious. We stuffed it with crab stuffing and topped it with onions. YUUUMMMM!!!

Jamie's engagement party!!!

I was looking through my photos yesterday and came across Jamie's engagement party pics. When I got home I quickly downloaded them and never looked at them. When I came across them yesterday I couldn't help but have a good laugh. First there was a million pictures of my dad and Jamie's friend Bailey, don't ask me why. Next I scored some great pictures of Jamie and Ben. I think they should be blown up and framed to show off at there next shin-dig. Finally I came across the ones that could have got me in a lot of trouble that night. Jamie and I were walking by the pool at the party and we were joking about going in. The next thing I know, I had done the unthinkable. I lovingly pushed my sister in the pool. By the grace of God Jamie was not mad at me. I can't say the same for her fiance Ben. I just kept saying, "If she is not mad then everything is OK.". Ben wasn't buying it though. In the end we all had a good laugh about it. Next time I will make sure the person being thrown in the water is not holding there cell phone (sorry Jamie). All in all it was a lovely night. Jeff had so much fun that he couldn't even find his shoes the next morning.

My father looked like he was having the best night.

Etsy

Its been a while since my last post(sorry mom), but I have a good reason. I have been non-stop working on my Jewelry. I actually just opened a shop on Etsy.com. I thought making the jewelry was time consuming, the Internet is ten times more. I have only listed a couple of items right now, and will keep adding more. Check it out!

Gustav

Thanks for all the phone calls from everyone checking on us. We have been staying on the boat and are doing great. I actually slept through the hurricane. We went down to the beach that afternoon and I was able to snag some photos. It was nasty out in the Gulf. You might be saying to yourself, "IF you were on a boat, how did you not feel the harsh effects?". We are staying at the Wharf in the ICW(International Coastal Waterway). The marina has floating docks, so when the water rises, we do too. Hopefully we will be spared again with the other storms. Hope you enjoy the pics.

They're back!!!

Well at least one of them is back. The other day while I was sitting on my porch enjoying the view, I looked over and to my suprise I saw the biggest ant yet. It must have eatin the other two ants that I saw back in June. This sucker is at least an inch long. I told you they were Africanized. If anybody has any idea of what type of ant this is, then please let me know.

Boat Ride

Another activity that we did while the Wilson clan was here was a nice boat ride. This gave me some great photo ops.

This was out in front of the Bellingrath home. We were to chicken to get out on the lawn. Check out Riley's sour puss face. She looks so bored

This little girl is such a cutie. She didn't want to wear the life jacket and fussed. I couldn't believe I actually got these sweet pictures.

J.J. really enjoyed the boat ride.

Before we pulled the boat out of the water, my Jeff let the boys drive the boat. Later I asked each of them what their favorite part of the day was and of course they said driving the boat.

Luke is such a sweet older brother. I looked over at him and he was holding Jonah's hand. He is so sweet.

I got some really sweet pictures of Carolyn and Riley.

Girls day at the beach

Carolyn and I got to spend a couple of hours on the beach Monday by ourselves. We had a blast goofing around!!!

This is our beautiful drip castle that we made. This angle doesn't even do it justice.

Our castle looked like a spooky mountain.

After we built the drip castle, we couldn't help but goof off in front of the camera.

These are our sexy poses. Don't you agree???

All in all it was a great day!!! Love you sis.
